Cyn llunio'r byd,
cyn lledu'r nefoedd wen,
Cyn gosod haul, na lloer,
na sêr uwchben,
Fe drefnwyd ffordd
yng nghyngor Tri yn Un
I achub gwael
golledig euog ddyn.
Trysorwyd gras,
ryw annherfynol stôr,
Yn Iesu Grist
cyn rhoddi deddf i'r môr;
A rhedeg wnaeth
bendithion arfaeth ddrud,
Fel afon gref lifeiriol
dros y byd.
I ddynol-ryw
Iachawdwr gwiw a gaed,
Dros lwch y llawr
fe roes ei werthfawr waed;
Pob peth a ddaeth
drwy'r iachawdwriaeth rad:
Gwisg hardd i'r noeth,
a chyfoeth ac iachâd.
Ar dir na môr
ei debyg gẁn nad oes;
Seraphiaid pur
ni thraethant byth ei oes:
Dringo a wnaf, trwy nerth
ei ras, o'm gwae,
Nes caffwy'n glir
ei weled fel y mae.
Mae'r utgorn mawr
yn seinio'n awr i ni
Ollyngdod llawn
trwy’r Iawn ar Galfari:
Mawl ym mhob iaith
trwy'r ddaear faith a fydd,
Am angau'r groes,
a'r gwaed a'n rhoes yn rhydd.
Peter Jones (Pedr Fardd) 1775-1845
Tonau [10.10.10.10]: gwelir: Cyfammod rhad cyfammod cadarn Duw Darfydded son am haeddiant dyn a'i rym |
Before the fashioning of the world,
before the spreading of the bright heavens,
Before the placing of the sun, or moon,
or stars overhead,
A way was prepared
in the counsel of the Three in One
To save wretched,
lost, guilty man.
Grace was treasured,
some infinite store,
In Jesus Christ
before law was given to the sea;
And he made to run
blessings of costly design,
Like a strong, torrential river
across the world.
To humankind
a worthy Saviour who was had,
For the dust of the earth
he gave his precious blood;
Every thing that came
through the free salvation:
Beautiful clothing to the naked,
and wealth and health.
On neither land nor sea
do I know his like to be;
Pure seraphs
shall never expound his life:
Climb I shall, through the strength
of his grace, from my woe,
Until I get clearly
to see him as he is.
The great trumpet is
sounding now to us
Full absolution
through the Satisfaction on Calvary:
Praise in every language
throughout the wide earth shall be,
For the death of the cross,
and the blood which he gave us freely.
